Inspired from 1905 and 1906 fashion, this visiting or walking ensemble will be made on your measurement using historical techniques.

The gown in the picture is made of black wool, orange faux or vegan silk for the decoration, green silk for the bows and tie, white cotton and lace and black faux or vegan silk for the blouse.

The bolero jacket has wide elbow length sleeves with contrasting cuffs: these are made of the same fabric and color of the geometrical decoration that brighten up the design and emphasize its shape. On the back the jacket has silk ribbons decorated with oval multifaceted beads and hand made beads tassels; the bows are in a complimentary color to the whole ensemble and will gracefully follow your body while walking.
The jacket is lined according to the color or colors chosen for the ensemble.

By the early 1900's we can see the presence of machine stitched decorations on several pieces, for this design I have decided to not sew by hand the geometrical decoration because it would have been still period accurate, but you can request to have your decoration completely hand stitched: see decoration options.
All other finishing details are hand stitched no-matter which of the two options you chose.

The walking skirt features the geometrical motif of the jacket but on a larger scale, the front instead is decorated only with an elegant pleat and the waistband, like the cuffs, is in the same fabric and color of the decoration.
Depending on the type and color of wool cloth or wool broadcloth that you will choose between the available possibilities (please see "colors and fabric" section below) I will choose the best and more accurate option for the fabric on the inside of the skirt. The backstitches along the pleats and panels of the skirts are both a motif and a functional feature.
As shown in one picture the walking skirt has colorful balayeuse, cut with a vintage picking machine and hand stitched.
The skirt is fastened with hooks: the opening is on one side and it's hidden by the skirt cut and design.

The bolero jacket is worn over a white blouse with decorative flat pleats, a lace insert on the front and back, elbow length wide sleeves and collar and cuffs in a contrasting color. The blouse is fastened with hidden buttons on the front: thanks to the cut and pleats of the garment, the opening is completely disguised. If you want to take a better look at the blouse check here.
A silk tie in the same color of the bolero's ribbons finishes the look: see visiting ensemble options if you want or don't want this accessory.

You can decide if you would like all these elements or, if you already have blouses or shirtwaists for this period, just the walking skirt and bolero jacket.

The price of this gown also includes a mock up of the dress (see the mock-up section of this listing).

Corset, petticoat, hip pads, bust emproovers and undergarments are not included in this listing, but they can be requested and added to your order: see the following “custom orders” section. Please note: this gown requires underpinnings to achieve the correct silhouette.

Measurements

Once you have placed your order, you will receive a list of the measurements that will be needed to make your bespoke gown plus a diagram or tutorial that will show you how to correctly take those measurements: if you don't feel confident in the process you can book an appointment at the studio or request a video call.

Mock-up and fitting

Once I have received your measurements and drafted the pattern for your gown I will make a mock-up of the gown: for this ensemble the prototype it's a necessary step to achieve the correct and best fitting and an opportunity for you to see how the gown moves with you.

The mock up service is provided both for customers who can come by the studio for fittings and for customers living abroad: please read the dedicated section on the website before purchase.

The cost of the mock-up and fitting is already included in the price of this walking enesemble but the eventual shippings fees are not, so please note: before placing your order send via message or at elainecouture.info@gmail.com the shipping address, your height and bust-chest-hips circumference so I can calculate the cost of the shipping and return cost and add it to your total.
Instead if you come to try it at the studio there will be no shipping costs to add.
