Historical patternmaking and sewing
In this course we will study historical patterns and recreate garments from the 15th to the 18th century (European and American fashion).
This course has both lectures and practical training: we will start with the explanation and guided creation of the pattern (drafted following historical samples and references), to the study of materials and techniques used in a specific time period, to the correct positioning and cutting of each piece, to the mock-up and then the making of the finished garments.

After each class the student will receive exercises or activities to continue on their own: they may be more or less short assignments, based on the skill level of the participant. These assignments will be necessary in order to consolidate the knowledge acquired, to boost autonomy in execution and/or avoid spending portions on the next classes to carry out simple but repetitive steps.
