Bespoke 1795s stays

These stays create the historically correct silhouette of the 1790s, thanks to his shorter size, lighter weight and the fact that not only supports the breast, but it separates them too.
They are made of cotton and/or linen fabric, boned with flexible steel bones or synthetic whalebone and they are lined with cotton or linen: the small tabs over the hips to protect your skin and support the petticoat.

These stays can be made with or without decorative hand-embroidery (see video and photos); the cups/breast gussets are adjustable with a coulisse/drawstring, if you desire to add more volume/support choose the "gathered and quilted" option.
These stays can be made with the shoulder straps or just be laced with a string (like in the photos of the yellow stays).
The padding on the back can be fixed or removable (see the video of the brown and yellow stays for an example of the removable option).
Please indicate your preference while placing your order.

These stays are laced on the back, the lacing on the front is always just decorative.

Options for the corset/stays boning:
Flexible steel bones (this option is the one shown in the yellow stays photos)
Synthetic whalebones (this option is the one shown in the brown and yellow stays photos)

(Difference between flexible steel bones and synthetic whalebones: the first are heavier, they are less inclined to bend if stored incorrectly or due to body heat but they are more sensitive to perspiration.
The second are lighter and, even if they get slightly bent, the corset can be restored with pressing.
Both types of boning combine stiffness and flexibility suitable for this type of garment and historical time period)

Eyelets can be
-hand sewn with silk / linen thread
-metal eyelet hand-covered with silk thread (this option has slightly larger eyelets)

The stays will be made in cotton and/or linen with the color/colors of your choice (for historical attire: the colours suggested for this time period are white/natural white, avana/light brown).
Please send a message to check color / fabric availability.
If you want/prefer a different fabric please see the "custom orders" section below.
*fabric or color availability depends on the suppliers and can change from season to season*

Any design/fabric change and/or any addition of decorative details must be requested before purchase and involve a variation in costs; your fabric choice must be communicated before purchase.

Measurements:

Once you have placed your order, you will receive a list of the measurements that will be needed to make your bespoke garment/ garments plus a diagram / tutorial that will show you how to correctly take those measurements.

Mock-up and fitting:

Once I have received your measurements I will make a mock-up of the corset: this prototype will be necessary to achieve the correct fitting for this stays.

The mock up service is provided both for customers who can come by the studio for fittings and for customers living abroad.

Customers living abroad will receive the mock-up via courier: we will schedule a video call in which we are going to check the fitting and, once any changes have been established, the customer will send the prototipe back to Elaine's studio (please note: the cost of the mock-up shipment, return and custom fees are charged to the customer).

The cost of the mock-up and fitting is already included in the price of this corset but the eventual shippings fees are not so please note: before placing your order send via message or at elainecouture.info@gmail.com the shipping address, your height and bust-chest-hips circumference so I can calculate the cost of the shipping and return cost and add it to your total. Instead if you come to try it at the studio there will be no shipping costs to add.
